David Stradley, 80, passed away on March 15, 2017, at his home in Belgrade, Montana.
He was born January 6, 1937, to Jim and Margaret Stradley in a log cabin near Colburn, Idaho. His parents moved to Belgrade permanently in 1945 where David attended high school. He later graduated from Montana State University in Bozeman, Montana.
He became a pilot at age 16 and carried on the family business, Gallatin Flying Service, with his father, Jim, mother, Margaret, and his brother, Roger. David taught many pilots to fly, instructed the Flying Bobcats, flew air ambulance, did crop dusting, flew charter flights, did wildlife surveys, and used his plane in search and rescue. He retired in 1999. He was a founding member and acting chairman for the Gallatin Valley Snowmobile Association where he formed a search and rescue team. David was also a member of the Gallatin Valley Sheriff’s Posse.
David is survived by his wife, Peggy Stradley; son, Scott Stradley; daughter, Cheryl Stradley Friend; and brother, Roger Stradley; sister-in-law, Ann Stradley; nieces, Anna Stradley and Lora Stradley; and many cousins.

Visitation will be held Monday, March 20 from 3 p.m.-5p.m. at Dokken-Nelson Funeral Service. Memorial services will be held Tuesday, March 21 at 2 p.m. at Belgrade Community Church.
