Obituary: Henry (Bud) Dyk

Henry (Bud) Dyk went to his heavenly home on Monday, February 6, 2017.  He was born February 24, 1920, to Peter and Alje (Vander Woude) Dyk.   He grew up in the Gallatin Valley and attended Manhattan Christian School for nine years.

Henry married Louise Nell Droge in Manhattan on February 11, 1947, (almost 70 years ago). They were blessed with three children.  He was a dairy farmer for 31 years and named in Wataview Farm.  He sold the dairy in 1979 and formed a partnership with his son, Ron, to grow seed potatoes and other crops.  He had enjoyed helping out on the farm even in his 80’s.  He loved spending time driving the tractor meditating on the goodness and mercy of God.   

He was a charter member of Bethel Christian Reformed Church.  He was one of the original building committee members who were instrumental in getting the church built.  He served as an elder in Bethel Church for 12 years.  Being a life-long member of this church was very special to him.

He is preceded in death by his parents, two brothers (John and Joe Dyk) and two sisters (Pearl Dykstra and Lena Dykman), five sisters-in-law, and six brothers-in-law. 

Henry is survived by his loving wife, Louise; one son, Ron (Connie) Dyk; two daughters, Kathy and Karen Dyk; one sister, Cena Brouwer; one grandson, Randy and (Jodi) Dyk; one granddaughter, Crystal and (Chris) Gomez); and six great-grandchildren; two sisters-in-law, Harriet and (Bert) Kamps, Nell Van Dyken; and two brothers-in-law, Arie Dyk and Bert Kamps.

Visitation will be held Thursday, February 9th from 5 to 8 p.m. at Dokken-Nelson Funeral Service as well as Friday, February 10th from 9 to 10 a.m. at Bethel Christian Reformed Church.  Graveside services to follow Friday, February 10th at 10 a.m. at Churchill Cemetery with memorial services at 11 a.m. at Bethel Christian Reformed Church.

Memorial contributions may be made in Henry’s name to Manhattan Christian School, 8000 Churchill Rd, Manhattan, MT 59741.
