Obituary: Donald Ray Bernard

Donald Ray Bernard, born to Horatio and Amber Bernard June 5, 1932 in San Antonio, TX, passed away December 1, 2015 in Bozeman, MT. He grew up in Houston, TX and attended San Jacinto High School. He graduated UT Austin with a BA, JD,LLM. and served as briefing attorney for the Texas Supreme Court and was Assistant Attorney General for the State of Texas. He's retired from the Navy as a Commander. 

Before retiring from Law, he established Bernard & Bernard law firm with his father, as well as a private international law practice. He was currently CEO of Zulert Labs Inc. His international business ventures spanned the world. Don authored several publications including a bestselling novel, "Bullion". He was a pilot and flew with the Confederate Air Force, Montana Mountain Search & Rescue and United Flying Octogenarians.

He lived in Montana with his beloved wife of 30 years, where they raised their son in the majesty of nature. He sponsored Montana State University Leadership Institute programs. He co-owned Golden StagSafaris and was VP of the Estancia Laguna Verde fishing lodge, both located in Argentina. His passing was sudden and his absence will be deeply felt. 

Don was preceded in death by his sister, Betty. He is survived by his wife, Elizabeth, and their son, Koby; his sister, Amber York; his brother, Larry Bernard; and his former wife, Janeil Bernard, and their two sons, Kevin and Doren.

A brief time of sharing and military honors will be held on Saturday, December 5 at 11:00 A.M. at the Veterans’ Wall at Sunset Hills Cemetery, followed by a private Celebration of Life at his home.
