Obituary: Martha Kamp

Posted: Updated:

Martha Kamp went to be with the Lord on November 19, 2015. Martha was born to Mel and Alice (Wessels) Vander Molen on May 24, 1928. She was the only girl among six brothers.

Martha married John Kamp on April 12, 1949, and had recently celebrated their 66th wedding anniversary. They spent the first year of their marriage in Amsterdam, MT, then moved to the Kamp farm north of Three Forks. In 1964, they moved to California. After spending nine years there, they moved back to Montana. They lived on the farm until 1978 when they sold it to what is now Wheat Montana.

After selling the farm, they spent much time over the next 30 years as owners and operators of a hotel in Tuscaloosa, Alabama.

Martha spent many years helping on the farm and was an excellent cook. She loved to travel and spend time with her grandchildren.

Martha was preceded in death by her two sons, Dan and Larry, and three brothers, John, Sherman, and Allan.

Martha is survived by her husband, John Kamp of Bozeman; daughters, LaVonne (Joe) Kinney of Tehachapi, CA and Alice (Ken) Van Dyke of Bozeman, MT; daughter-in-law, Mary Kamp and Dick Collum; grandchildren, Jennipher and David Hendricks, Florida, Katya and Alex Salazar, Nadya and Brad Warner, Dmitiri Kinney, and Arianna Kamp, all of CA, Yulia and Eddie Garza of Il, Ryan and Justine Van Dyke, Mark and Sarah Van Dyke, Kenny and Ellie Van Dyke, Ben and Kirby Van Dyke, and Johnny Kamp, all of Bozeman; nine great-grandchildren; and brothers, Harold (Cornellia) Vander Molen, Jack (Rita) Vander Molen, of Manhattan, MT and Mel (Susan) Vander Molen of CA.

Even at times like this, we are so thankful for John and Martha's nearly 67 years of marriage and the knowledge that Martha will spend eternity in Heaven because of her strong faith and trust in the Lord, Jesus Christ, as her personal savior.

Visitation will be held Tuesday, November 24 from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Dokken-Nelson Funeral Service.  Graveside services will be held Wednesday, November 25 at 9:30 a.m. at Churchill Cemetery.  A Celebration of Life will follow at 11:00 a.m. at Grace Bible Church.

In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to the Gallatin Valley Food Bank, P.O. Box 1129, Bozeman, MT 59771.

Arrangements are in the care of Dokken-Nelson Funeral Service.  www.dokkennelson.com
