Lack of snow in Canada moves snowboarding event to Big Sky

BIG SKY -

A lack of snow in British Columbia means a major snowboarding event is relocating to Big Sky Resort this year.

Coordinators of TransWorld SNOWboarding's TransAM snowboarding amateur competition are moving the event to Big Sky on February 28.

According to a press release, Big Sky Resort was chosen to host because of its consistent snow coverage on Lone Peak and multiple locations to build the terrain park competition. Organizers were forced to find a change in venue due to a lack of snow in the Mt. Seymour, British Columbia area.

"Although it's unfortunate Mother Nature had us pull the plug on the Mt Seymour stop, we couldn't be happier with the replacement at Big Sky in Montana,” said Christian Thomas, Senior Events Manager, TransWorld SNOWboarding. “A progressive resort like Big Sky is an absolutely perfect match for the TransWorld SNOWboarding TransAM.”

Specific features will be shipped to Big Sky Resort and the Big Sky Resort Terrain Crew will put their creativity to work to build unique features most will have never seen or ridden before.

“We are very excited to host what has been called ‘the fun-est event in snowboarding'," said Adam West, Terrain Park Manager for Big Sky Resort. “The crew and I are stoked to have the opportunity to give this classic event our own local twist!”
