Some shakeups are rattling the ranks of the Montana State University offense.
This one involves another redshirt freshman muscling in on an upperclassman. First-year running back head coach Kerry Dixon has been around the block and the ‘Cats long enough that he and Coach Rob Ash tabbed Cody Kirk to be the starting running back.
Kirk insists he won't let up despite the honor.

With only four days until its season opening tilt versus Fort Lewis, the Montana State football program has named its starting quarterback.
Redshirt freshman Denarius McGhee was chosen by head coach Rob Ash and offensive coordinator Brian Wright as the starting quarterback.

At MSU the football season couldn't come soon enough for the Bobcats.
While the Cats taper down the grind of preseason camp, players are using the opportunity to heal and coaches are hoping to answer any lingering personnel questions. And by personnel questions, of course we mean quarterback.

CORVALLIS, ORE - A redshirt Oregon State University football player has been dismissed from the team after police say they found him naked and intoxicated in a stranger's home and had to use stun guns to take him into custody.
Corvallis police say they received the call about a naked intruder early Sunday.

BUTTE, Mont. (AP) - This year's East-West Shrine high school all-star football game raised nearly $103,000 for the Shriners Hospital for Children in Spokane, Wash.
This year's game was played at Bulldog Memorial Stadium in Butte on July 17. The West team beat the East 34-18.
The game's board of directors voted Saturday to approve a $102,728 donation to the Shriners Hospital, which provides children with orthopedic and burn care at no cost.

MSU football players hit Bobcat Stadium for a half scrimmage on Wednesday, but a rash of injuries caused a change of plans, yet the team made important strides.
The running game was to be the focus under the brutal sun, Coach Bo Beck coached up the d-ends. His depleted line made MSU coaches hold off on pounding the rock, but they still were pressuring the passer.

The Montana State University volleyball team has a season of its own creeping up.
The team pushed through a round of running suicides during their second practice of the day on Tuesday. The Lady Cats are in year three under the watch of Sara Schaub and they are buying into her vision for the program and with team unity budding.

The Butte Central Maroons went full contact and man-on-man at a spirited and crisp two-hour practice Tuesday morning.
Head coach Don Peoples Jr. is blessed with 19 seniors, the most in his tenure as head man for the Maroons. His battle-tested team learned a valuable lesson in last year's state semifinal loss and his undersized, but scrappy bunch insist they have strength in the right spot.

Rob Ash was worried prior to Monday morning's practice about his team's energy level. It didn't take him long to figure out there was nothing to worry about.
