Bozeman's historic Willson Auditorium will soon be getting a major facelift.
The Willson Auditorium is the Bozeman Public School District's only auditorium and it's basically stayed the same since the Willson School was built in 1937.
The Bozeman Schools Foundation is leading a $3.5 million campaign to bring the space up to today's standards.
So far, $2.5 million has been raised, which is enough to fully redo the auditorium.
Another $1 million would help pay for upgrades to the lobby, bathrooms and installing an elevator.
Among other things, the updated facility will have improved accessibility, acoustics and lighting.
Bozeman High School Band Director, Kelly Berdahl, says Bozeman is recognized as a top notch performing arts community and its time that we have a facility of the same caliber.
Berdahl says, "There have been failed attempts over the past decade, two decades, to make something happen and we are just this close to finishing this the way it should be done."
Tune in tonight at 10 as MTN's Keele Smith goes on special assignment and shows us what this renovation will mean for the community.
