LAUREL - A wildfire off of Buffalo Trail Road and Canyon Creek Road near Laurel has not been contained, but it is not spreading, Yellowstone County Director of Disaster and Emergency Services Duane Winslow said.

The blaze has burned about 800 acres in steep terrain and Buffalo Trail Road remains closed with people being advised to stay clear of the area.

The fire was apparently started by lightning around 2:15 p.m. Monday with over 125 people working the fire lines along with 50 engines, one helicopter and one fixed wing aircraft.

Two heavy air tankers have also been ordered. Officials say that no structures are threatened and no evacuations have been ordered.

The Molt and Laurel fire departments are currently in command and are getting help from 10 neighboring agencies.
