Authorities have released the identity of a man who died when his vehicle left the roadway and went over an embankment on Big Sky Spur Road last Friday.
Karston Waarvik, 20, a Montana State University student with ties to the Glasgow area, was killed in the crash, according to the Montana Highway Patrol.
Shortly after 8 a.m. Friday, authorities were called to the crash, which happened about six miles up Big Sky Spur Road from the turnoff at Gallatin Road in Big Sky, according to Trooper J.D. McMartin of the Montana Highway Patrol.
Waarvik was declared dead at the scene. His vehicle traveled off of the roadway and struck two trees before coming to rest about 100 yards down the embankment, according to the Montana Highway Patrol.
