Teens killed when motorcycles collide near Elliston identified

UPDATE: The Powell County Coroner has identified two teenagers who died in the motorcycle crash near Elliston last night.

Cheyenne Harbour, 14, and Jory Thomas, 15, both of Elliston, died when two motorcycles collided.

The name of the 14-year-old Elliston female being treated at St. Patrick Hospital in Missoula is not being released.


Two teenagers are dead after a motorcycle crash near Elliston Thursday evening, Montana Highway Patrol has confirmed.

At 11:40 p.m., MHP was dispatched to Highway 12 mile marker 22 for a report of a motorcycle crash.

The two motorcycles collided in the eastbound lane of the highway. The driver of the first motorcycle was a 14-year-old female from Elliston. The driver of the second motorcycle was also a 14-year-old female from Elliston. The second motorcycle was carrying a 15-year-old male passenger from Elliston.

The driver of the first motorcycle and the passenger of the second motorcycle both sustained fatal head injuries and were declared dead on scene. The driver of the second motorcycle was transported to St. Patrick Hospital in Missoula.

None of the teenagers were wearing helmets. The first motorcycle did not have active head lamps.

The cause of the wreck is still under investigation, but MHP reports speed was not a factor.
