KALISPELL - Authorities have released the name of the skier who was killed after being caught in an avalanche east of Bigfork on Wednesday afternoon.

Mark Albee, 42, of Bigfork died after being buried in the slide that happened near Jewel Basin Road, Flathead County Undersheriff Jordan White said.

Albee's body was found by Flathead Search and Rescue and Nordic Ski Patrol members at around 1:15 p.m. Thursday.

Albee was skiing with his brother when the avalanche happened on Wednesday. A family member tells Montana's News Station that the men were on a high ridge skiing and taking pictures when the slide happened.

Flathead County Sheriff Chuck Curry says the search for Albee was hindered by poor weather conditions.
