Power outage hits downtown Bozeman

UPDATE: Power was restored downtown at around 2 p.m.

Almost 1,300 customers were affected. Power was restored to some within minutes while others had to wait nearly two hours.

BOZEMAN - A power outage is affecting a few blocks of downtown Bozeman this afternoon.

Power is out at traffic lights at the intersections of Willson and Main, Tracy and Main and Black and Main. Several businesses on the south side of Main Street are affected as well and are closed.

NorthWestern Energy crews are on the scene and are working to restore power to the area, spokesperson Claudia Rapkoch said. They are working to replace a cross arm on a pole that burnt off in an alley.

Rapkoch says the outage happened before noon and it should be about two hours before power is fully restored to all customers in the area.

It is not known at this time how many customers are affected.
