Planning is in the works for the new MSU School of Business building. The first two public information sessions were held Wednesday and Thursday afternoons.
"There's been a great deal of consensus on a lot of things we have talked about. One of them is creation of community within the building. We want to create a space that gets students, faculty from business and outside of business, and community members together. We want this to be a place where they can exchange ideas; that's where the great entrepreneurial ideas come from," said Susan Dana, the Interim Dean for the MSU School of Business.
Dana says by early May design drawings will be started and everything will be ready for the legislation to approve so construction can begin. They anticipate the ground will be broken in the summer of 2013 and the school of business will move into the building by the summer of 2015.
"The building committee took the issues of community access, student access, and some consideration of parking and defined several general areas. One of them is near the corner of 11th Avenue and College Street. Another one of them is just to the North of Wilson Hall, but in general the sites that we considered are in the core of campus," said Ben Lloyd, an architect working on the project.
The College of Business will host another listening session on February 22nd and by that time they will have the building location narrowed down to three of four sites.
