BILLINGS -The Yellowstone County Sheriff's Office is seeking the public's assistance to help identify the body of a man that was found in a ditch Sunday morning.

Because of the state of the decomposed body, authorities do not know the male's identity. Sheriff Jay Bell says an autopsy was done on the body and did not reveal any gunshot or stab wounds.

The deceased male is between 25 and 35 years old and is a Caucasian or possibly Hispanic male. He is about 6'2" and weighed about 250 to 260 lbs. at the time of his death. He has what appears to be dark hair and was wearing a dark pair of shorts and a dark colored T-shirt when he was found. He had three top missing front teeth and suffered from advanced periodontal disease.

Authorities are also pointing out that the male had tattoos on both of his shoulders. On his left shoulder, he had a tribal type design, but it was partially gone due to his death. The deceased male had a distinctive tattoo on his right shoulder that consisted of a Black Panther and black Chinese style dragon ringing a black and white ying/yang symbol. There were also green-colored wreath-like markings around the ying/yang.

On the morning of Aug. 15, an employee of the Billings Bench Water Association discovered a badly decomposed human body in the BBBWA Canal, also known as the Big Ditch. The body was located in an intake intersection for the confluence of the BBWA Canal and the Five Mile Canal. This intersection is located approximately 100 yards of a residence located at 3055 Yeoman Road, just west of Shepherd and is approximately 13.7 miles from downtown Billings.
