The Montana Tobacco Quit Line is extending its four-week patch promotion of free nicotine replacement therapy.

Pulmonary critical care physician Dr. Robert Schoene from Bozeman Deaconess Hospital says he thinks the extension is a great idea. He adds that many of his patients have utilized the quit line and often need assistance to kick the habit.

"As their disease progresses, they often reach out for help and one of the key things they need to do is quit smoking. So I think the hotline is a great innovation and a great program. I'm glad they're extending. I wish they would extend it indefinitely," Schoene said.

The Montana Tobacco Quit Line also offers free cessation coaching and help developing individualized quit plans.

Calls are free at 1-800-QUIT-NOW.
