MSU Men's Basketball Wins Only Exhibition Game

-- The first game jitters certainly showed in the first half Saturday night, as Montana State beat South Dakota State School of Mines 93-61 in the only exhibition game for the Bobcats.

"It was the first game so those jitters are always a little expected. We knew that would be the case early on. South Dakota Mines executed well in the beginning and are a very disciplined team," said head coach Brad Huse. It was a close game at halftime as the Bobcats took the first half lead of 37-33 into the locker room, but 18 turnovers in the second half by the Hardrockers quickly helped the Bobcats take control.

Antonio Biglow led all players with 21 points, shooting 9-15 from the field. Michael Dison and Calen Coleman each added 13 points, while Jamie Stewart poured in 11 points and Xavier Blount added 10. "We have plenty of guys that can score. We have a new style this year with some new guys so it will take some games for us to get things going offensively."

The Bobcat defense was definitely clicking as they forced 29 turnovers. Jamie Stewart lead MSU with five steals on the night as Biglow and Marcus Colbert each had three steals. The Bobcats had 20 total steals. "On the defensive side, we were intense throughout the night. That intensity was good to see. I hope we can keep that up and get the offense to play the same way."

South Dakota School of Mines was led by Caleb Shockman's 10 points and six rebounds as Konor Kulas had eight points.

"We realized the offense was a little sloppy tonight. We'll watch ourselves on tape and try to fix some things. When we go and play Seattle we are going to have to play better offensively," added coach Huse.
MSU travels to Seattle next Sunday for the first road test on the season. The game is scheduled to start at 6 p.m.
