People honored the life of Sidney teacher Sherry Arnold at organized runs in Billings or just around town.
At Rocky Mountain College, nearly 60 people turned out for the memorial run. One of Sherry's former students Hope Barker, a sophomore at Rocky, and her math professor Robyn Cummings organized a run at the college campus. Barker said since she couldn't be in Sidney for the run, she wanted to make sure she could celebrate her teacher's life with others. Cummings said as a runner and math teacher, she resonated a lot with Sherry and said the news of her disappearance was heartbreaking.
After a moment of silence, participants ran or walked along the area. Barker said she had never ran more than a mile, but thought of Sherry and that gave her strength to finish the race.
Several Sidney natives and members of the community who were unable to be in their hometown also ran in the virtual run. They say it meant a lot to participate in the run with fellow Montanans.
Virtual runs also took place in Butte, Frnechtown, Libby, Lolo and Missoula.
