Man remains in critical condition after Belgrade bar fight

A local man remains hospitalized in critical condition following a bar fight in Belgrade last week.

Shad Waddell, 28, of Belgrade was Life Flighted to St. Vincent Hospital in Billings last Wednesday night. Police say he was punched by another man outside the Belgrade Lounge, fell to the ground, hit his head on the asphalt and sustained severe injuries.

Waddell was reportedly a bystander in a crowd of people who gathered in the parking lot of the bar after a separate fight erupted inside the lounge.

Matthew Wagemann, 27, of Bozeman is accused of punching Waddell. He is charged with felony aggravated assault, but claims he hit Wadell in self-defense.

Wagemann remains behind bars on $150,000 bail.
