Officials still do not know what caused a fire that destroyed a Belgrade home Monday night.

On Tuesday morning firefighters were at 301 North Quaw Boulevard investigating the blaze that started in the garage, Belgrade Deputy Fire Chief Kevin Strickler said. The home's occupants were able to escape the fire, but two dogs and a cat were killed.

The fire started just before 9 p.m. Monday and flames erupted from the home throughout the night as firefighters worked to get the blaze under control. Several fire engines were called to the scene and crews spent about five hours at the scene.

The occupants, who asked to not be identified, said they do have a place to stay. The home is considered to be a complete loss.
