For the third year in a row, several horses went riding downtown on their way to the fairgrounds to help kick off the Gallatin County Fair.

Members of the Gallatin Equestrian Program, also known as GallEP rode the horses crossing Main Street at Wallace on their way to the fairgrounds. The effort of the GallEP organization is to work with local governments to help preserve equestrian landscape.

For three years now, it has become tradition to ride the horses to the fairgrounds to help kick off the fair.

"We found through our public outreach that people that visit here are somewhat shocked that they don't really see horses and that agriculture sort of lifestyle kind thing in the community anymore. So I think that's the most important reason is to just keeping horses in the public view," says Marianne Amsden, president of the GallEP Organization.
