A veteran who served four tours in Vietnam, who lived in the Flathead during the 1980's and worked at Montana Raft Company, has died in a plane crash.
KIMT-TV of Mason City, Iowa, reports Terry Hanson, 68, died when his plane crashed in Alaska over the weekend. He moved from Iowa to Whitefish in 1977.
Three other people also were killed in the crash, but six people did survive. The single engine Cessna went down near the town of Mountain Village.
A spokesperson for the Alaska State Troopers told the Anchorage Daily News that searchers had to wade through freezing rain, low clouds and poor visibility right after the crash.
The National Transportation Safety Board is now looking into the cause of the accident.
