Florida snowmobiler injured after crashing into tree in West Yellowstone

A vacationer from Florida was rescued after crashing his rented snowmobile into a tree near West Yellowstone.

West Yellowstone Police Department received report of an injured snowmobiler on the Big Sky Snowmobile Trail north of West Yellowstone on Monday, March 8, according to a news release from the Gallatin County Sheriff's Department. The man was complaining of right hip and leg pain.

Sheriff's Office Search and Rescue personnel and Hebgen Basin Fire District medical personnel responded to the scene. The injured snowmobiler was located and found to be in extreme pain. He sustained unknown injuries to his hip and possibly his leg.

 

The man was packaged into a rescue sled and transported to an improvised landing zone near the scene of the accident, according to the sheriff's department.  Air Idaho responded to the scene and flew the patient to Idaho Falls.
