Fireworks go on sale in Butte Thursday until July 5, the same days it is legal to use fireworks in the Mining City, according to Butte Fire Department Fire Marshal John Lasky.
Fireworks stands are gearing up for opening day, but Lasky wants everyone to remember the rules and stay safe.
"Use only as they were designed to," he said.
Lasky adds that people need to use common sense when using fireworks. Don't set them off inside residences, don't put them in your pocket, don't aim them at people or cars, and it's illegal to use them in the parks and forest areas. This is all to keep people safe.
Also, setting off fireworks after 11 p.m. could get you cited by police for noise disturbance.
We're set to talk to Bozeman's fire chief next week on more ways to safely enjoy the holiday.
