Deer Lodge man kills wife; turns himself in

A Deer Lodge man has turned himself in for the murder of his wife, according to Powell County Sheriff Scott Howard. Howard confirms the owner of MRC gas station in Deer Lodge killed his wife around 11:00p.m. Saturday night at the couple's residence. The husband turned himself in Sunday morning.

Howard would not confirm a cause of death but says it was not a shooting contrary to many rumors.

The victim has been transferred to the State Crime Lab in Missoula to determine an official cause of death. The husband is in custody in Powell County.
