They began riding around 5 a.m. and wont stop until 10 tonight.
The Gallatin Valley Land Trust's annual Longest Day of Trails event has been going on all day.
"It's really a trail celebration," said GVLT Program Director Kelly Pohl.
Members of the community rode their bikes from dawn until dusk today to hit the trails around Bozeman.
"I'm so stoked to do this," said Bike Rider Dan Himsworth. "Anyone who uses these trails, GVLT impacts them."
The event raises awareness for the trail system around the valley.
"We're raising awareness about the GVLT and the work we do to help build and maintain community trails," Pohl said.
"Without the land trust and the city of Bozeman, we wouldn't have any of the trails we have," said GVLT Board Member Bill Cochran.
Bill is riding his bike on every loop today.
"I rarely drive in the summer in town here," he said.
Making his total miles for the day between 120 and 130.
"The biggest thing for me is raising people's awareness of the trail system here in Bozeman," said Cochran.
People even skipped a few hours of work to hit the dirt.
"I'm sneaking away from work," Himsworth said, laughing. "Good thing I own my business or my boss would fire me," he finished jokingly.
And it's all to show support for the Gallatin Valley Land Trust that helps build, design and maintain our trails.
"I'm here to show support to GVLT and all they do with our trails," said Himsworth.
And this event annually raises about $10,000 for the land trust.
"This is just a great day!" Himsworth said.
"It's fun when you're doing fun stuff," said Cochran.
Those taking part in the event will be celebrating tonight at Montana Ale Works. You can join them there if you'd like to participate.
