A Butte judge is receiving an award for his work to improve access to justice for all people.

District Judge Kurt Krueger will be receiving the Karla M. Gray Equal Justice Award from the Montana State Bar this Friday.

The September issue of The Montana Lawyer magazine announces Krueger as an award winner. It specifically mentions Krueger's establishment of the Butte family drug court and his efforts to remodel the county law library.

Krueger says Butte-Silver Bow is fortunate because of its many programs that help individuals have their day in court.

"Access to justice is a problem courts are facing repeatedly throughout the state and nation. Individuals are having a difficult time getting lawyers, bringing their actions to court," Krueger said.

Krueger says he's honored by the award and pleased with the recognition and support of Butte-Silver Bow's programs.
