It is the first time in 27 years that the Butte Central Lady Maroons will go to the State Tournament.
While it should just be a relief that the girls finally got in, they have to live up to more history. The Central team made it to state 27 years ago and won the whole thing with Coach Meg Murphy playing on that squad.
Quinn Peoples says the expectations are still high and her team is ready to live up to them.
"Everyone's like, 'Let's make it like the last time you were there,' but we just have to do what we do and play like we can and we're just ready to get there and get it started. It's been two weeks since divisionals, so we're just ready to go. It's the top teams coming together, playing each other, so it's going to be really good games. I think they're going to be pretty close," Peoples said.
Maroons tip off at 2 p.m. with Frenchtown in Hamilton.
Anaconda will play Havre in the late game at 8 p.m. Twin Bridges is in the early game in Great Falls with Saco Whitewate with tip off at 12:30 p.m.
Also in action on Thursday, Three Forks and Manhattan Christian in the girls State B Tournament and the girls of Butte and Bozeman take the floor for the Double As in Billings.
