Bozeman School District seeks opinions on upcoming boundary relocation

The Bozeman School District is seeking help from parents as it decides where to draw new attendance boundaries for Bozeman's elementary and middle schools. The request comes as the new 8th elementary in the district will require a change of the boundaries. Elementary school number 8, broke ground this past summer, and is expected to be open by the fall of 2014.

Superintendent Rob Watson is also asking parents for help in figuring out where young children live who will start kindergarten and first grade for the first time in the next few years. He is asking parents to fill out a quick online survey, or phone the enrollment office at 522-6004, if their child will first enter Bozeman public schools in the fall of 2013 or 2014.

Watson is also seeking one parent volunteer from each elementary and middle school to serve on a new Boundary Committee that will make recommendations to the School Board this spring.

The committee of about 20 people will also include principals, teachers and two School Board trustees. It will meet Jan. 17 and 24, then present its ideas to the public in February, and make recommendations to the School Board in March. Anyone wishing to apply for the committee can fill out an application by Dec. 14 online by clicking here.
