A Bozeman man gets jail time for robbing a Belgrade casino and leading authorities on a chase through town in 2009.

Gallatin County District Court Judge John Brown sentenced Kevin McNurlin to 15 years behind bars with 10 years suspended. The judge also recommended McNurlin be placed at the Montana State Prison in Deer Lodge.

The 32-year-old was chased by the Gallatin County Sheriff's department, Montana Highway Patrol and Belgrade Police after holding up Dottie's Casino on March 1, 2009. Officers say he walked into the establishment, pulled out a pistol and demanded money from the clerk.

According to court records, McNurlin called 911 as authorities chased him and told dispatchers he would not be "taken alive." He then threw the money out the window before being stopped.

McNurlin's vehicle finally came to a stop after a spike strip deflated its tires. Officers say several good Samaritans turned in more than $100 worth of cash found scattered along the Frontage Road.

McNurlin pled guilty to felony armed robbery in December 2009.
