Early autumn rain storms didn't damper spirits of volunteers who put the finishing touches Saturday on the latest edition of the Gallatin Regional Park. The dedication of two new climbing boulders took place today.
The boulders were designed by climbers and provide a real climbing feel and experience.
They're being replicated in Helena, Missoula and Jackson Hole.
REI Bozeman General Manager James Hedges presented today's gathering with a check for $10,000 for a project that organizers say is a true community effort and a showcase.
David Cook, co-founder of the Bozeman Boulder Initiative told the News Station, "We find that kids stream over here from the Dinosaur playground and immediately want to climb here It's just a great, as this expands now all the walks. It's going to be like our Central Park hopefully in the future."
Terry Cunningham, another co-founder of the Initiative says, "And Bozeman is really leading the charge in terms of this outdoor amenity. It gets kids out and gets them exercising and that's really the purpose of these parks."
Since 2008, the Boulder Initiative has designed, raised funds for, and created six climbing boulders for Bozeman.
