Apparent murder-suicide investigated in Kalispell

KALISPELL - Police in Kalispell are investigating the discovery of two people who were found shot to death early Tuesday morning.

A man called authorities just before 12:45 a.m., and told dispatchers that his father had just shot his mother and was going to commit suicide.

Officers from the Kalispell Police Department, Flathead County Sheriff's Office and the Montana Highway Patrol all responded to a home northwest Kalispell, and were able to see what appeared to be two individuals on the floor in one of the bedrooms, according to a news release.

Officers entered the home and a woman and man dead on the floor from apparent gunshot wounds. The residence was cleared to make sure no one else was inside and then secured.

Kalispell detectives are conducting the investigation and the Kalispell Police Major Case Unit is processing the crime scene.

The investigation is ongoing and the names are being withheld pending notification of next of kin and completion of the investigation.
