BOZEMAN - One man is dead and two people are in the hospital after a head-on collision near Norris.
The Montana Highway Patrol says a 42-year-old male from Soda Springs, Idaho died Monday night on Highway 84 at mile marker 1. The crash happened at 7:23 p.m.
According to MHP, the man was driving at a high rate of speed and failed to negotiate a curve. He crossed the centerline of the highway and crashed head-on into another vehicle.
Authorities say in addition to speed, alcohol was also a factor. The male driver was pronounced dead at the scene.
Two people in the other vehicle were taken to the hospital. A 29-year-old male is in serious condition and a 27-year-old female suffered life-threatening injuries. Both are from Bozeman.
All three people involved were wearing seatbelts.
