Wildlife officials say a grizzly bear has been euthanized after tests determined that it was responsible for a triple mauling in a Montana campground.
Montana Fish, Wildlife and Parks spokesman Ron Aasheim says DNA tests determined the sow killed a Michigan man and injured two others in unprovoked attacks in a campground overnight Wednesday.

It's the time of year people love to float the lower Madison River, and the Bureau of Land Management says that is causing some problems on Highway 84.

Lots of fun to be had this weekend, particularly in Three Forks at the annual Fly-In.

Public health officials say they are investigating an outbreak of illnesses that they believe is tied to contaminated water from a resort near Hebgen Lake.

Bear experts have transferred what they believe to be the offending grizzly bear and her three cubs from the Soda Butte Campground to the Fish Wildlife and Park's state wildlife lab in Bozeman.

One local man, who has been mauled not once but twice by grizzly bears, lived to tell his stories before passing away last week.
According to the Associated Press, 60-year old Jim Cole, who was an author and photographer, died of natural causes on July 22nd.
Cole was mauled twice by grizzly bears, including a 2007 attack that cost him his left eye.

Yellowstone National Park officials say crews are all but finished dealing with a fire that consumed nearly a square mile of the park 7 miles west southwest of the Bridge Bay Campground.

A series of three draft bills addressing the state's energy policy were stalled in the interim committee on Thursday.
The Energy and Telecommunications Committee is split down the middle with four Democrats and four Republicans.
During the revision of the draft bills, nearly every motion failed due to a split vote. Senator Verdell Jackson of Kalispell motioned to strike "man-made greenhouse gases" from the draft. This motion drew strong criticism from the Democrats.

Not as many thunderstorms out there today! The flow aloft is still out of the SW and today only a tiny bit of monsoonal moisture traveled up into SW Montana with isolated thunderstorms trying to develop.
This pattern will remain in place Friday and with it another slight chance of afternoon thunderstorms and rising temperatures. Friday max values should reach the upper 80's to lower 90's.

A judge has ordered two Miles City men
to pay more than $5,800 in restitution for veterinary care given to
a cat that they pleaded guilty to throwing into a bonfire last
fall.
The restitution hearing for 20-year-old Joshua J. Yates and
19-year-old Colton D. Nielsen was held Tuesday before District
